Trust

by Jacqueline Sinfield on August 9, 2008

Ever since I learnt to walk, approximately 34 years ago, I have done everything in my power to stay upright, on my feet and not fall. Even when the odds were against me and I had skis or roller blades attached to my feet. What I did today in Kung Fu then, went against everything I had previously learnt.

We were being taught how to fall on the ground, first flat on our backs and then on our front. After a few moments of trying and not doing very well, I decided to trust the instructor. He seemed to know what he was talking about. He was able to both ,throw himself on the ground AND remain in one piece; in fact he seemed to enjoy it. Low and behold within a few minutes of trusting, I too was throwing myself on the ground, and while I can’t say I actually enjoyed it, I did really enjoy being able to do something that I thought was impossible.
